Abstract

Purpose: Khajeh Bahaeddin Naqshband, the founder of the Naqshbandi order, is a prominent figure in mysticism. The oldest narratives about Khajeh Naqshband -Anis al-Talebeen and Uddat ul-Salekeen- have recently been published. The editors of these works have put considerable effort into editing and researching the texts. As the significance of any work is better recognized when it is studied thoroughly and the results are communicated to both the author and the readership.
Method and Research: The present inquiry will first shed light on the features and importance of Anis al-Talebeen. Then, following a close reading of selected passages, it will point out certain errors in the critical edition of the work.
Findings and Conclusions: We will summarize the textual features and the work’s influence on subsequent texts in comparative tables. We will also address ambiguities that have been overlooked in the critical edition, offering explanations of certain lexicons and terms. Correcting these errors, along with providing a more meticulous analysis and clarifying problematic statements, will no doubt improve the critical edition.
