The comparison between two Travelogues from Safavian era : Sheirly’s brothers & Kempfer

Abstract

Purpose: Antuan and Robert Sheirly” in 1598 AD. had a mission given by the government of England to instigate the First King Abbas to war with Osmani in order that England could get special commercial monopolies. Sheirly’s brothers’ travelogue includes the important information about the different aspects of the culture of Iran as well as it has presented the features of Iranian society in king Abbas’ period. In 1683 AD. ,85 years after Sheirly’s brothers, Engelbeart Kempfer ,a German tourist, was sent to Iran with a Swidish- Netherlandish group on the Swiden king’s order to make political- commercial  communication in the king Soleiman (second Safi)  period. Since Kempfer was a scientist, he came to Iran to research. His description of administrative hierarchy, economic system, and cultural structure of Iran that have been said based on scientific methods.
Method and Research:  This research based on the analysis of content technique has surveyed the writers’ point of views about two travelogues with almost a century invert between two writers. Also this article has presented the clearest pictures from Safavid’s top times. AS well as it compares similar aspects and differences between two works.
 Finding and Conclusion: Consequently, European common view on Iranian Moslems’ society in Safavid era and the lack of accurate comprehension of Iranian comportment are as aspects of unity between two these viewpoints. Sheirly’s brothers’ politics exploitative view against Kempfer’s scientific descriptive and anthropology view are as differences between two these travelogues
