Purpose: “The article, through a reading of Ibn Zubayr's Al-Dhakha'ir wa al-Tuhaf, aims to identify and thematically categorize the Persian loanwords in this work. Method and Research: This study seeks, through a descriptive method by reading and examining the aforementioned work, to identify, analyze, and thematically categorize the Persian words in the book and answer these three questions:
How many Arabicized words of Persian origin are there in the book Al-Dhakha'ir wa al-Tuhaf? Which semantic fields do the existing words belong to? To what extent have the meanings of the loanwords been accurately recorded in dictionaries?”
Findings and Conclusions: Out of the 110 identified Persian-origin words in the book, four are absent in classical Persian and Arabic texts, and the meanings of some words have been recorded incompletely. Most of the Arabicized Persian words in this book are related to aspects of urban daily life.
