Background/Objective: This research seeks to show the appearance of the form and aspects of literature in Attar Neishabouri's quatrains with regard to the art of contrast. Clarifying this issue to a large extent clarifies the aesthetic pattern of Attar's quatrains.
Method/Approach: In this research, the theory of formalism has been used. This theory seeks to reveal the literary aspects of literary texts. Among these, the quatrains of Atar Neishaburi have been selected by examining the dominant features in the verses that have used the art of contrast.
Findings/Results: The research results show that Attar's Mukhtarnama is one of the most comprehensive sources in terms of having a variety of mystical themes, and this source contains many linguistic and mystical contradictions. The literary forms of verses follow three general patterns in which the contribution of contrast is very prominent. Contradiction, as one of the prominent features of Attar's words, comes from his deep inner experiences and revelations, which are obtained after he transcends the material world and faces higher truths. The extent of Attar's mysticism defines many truths that we see in conflict together, and reflecting on the depth of these contradictions and their mutual relationships brings us closer to the truth of Attar's practical mysticism.
