In the eyes of some experts, metaphor may be considered a deviation from the conventional norms of language, which can be a way of the inevitable process in the formation of reasoning and thought. In the sense that the human thought system has a basically metaphorical nature, because humans think in the form of metaphorical concepts and they will probably start simulating. In line with this, the present research has investigated the areas of "sorrow" metaphor in Qaani's poems.
The method of this research is descriptive-analytical and its purpose is to identify the areas of origin used in the poet's works; so that the hidden layers of the meanings of his poems can be examined through their cognitive analysis. Based on the findings of the present research, in order to objectify the mental concept of grief, Qaani has used different fields of origin, the most used of which are human beings, living beings, objects, and human beings, who used the mental concept in an objective way. Findings: The findings of this research confirm that Qaani has a completely different view on the concept of grief, so that he often depicts it in the form of heavy and even deadly objects, which is also evident in the form of wild animals.
Using the frequency of grief with the analysis of cognitive metaphors shows that Qaani's attitude towards grief can be a reflection of his life full of suffering, which permeated his mind and appeared in his language, which is accompanied
