Introduction: Harems and harem-building have always been a common phenomenon among Iranian kings. The architecture of harems, following the architecture of each region, has also been influenced by various cultural, economic, political, etc. factors. Despite the importance that the harem had in the history of the kings' reign as a private sphere for women, especially the king, the structure and architecture of this space is hidden from everyone. In particular, it can be noted that historiography in Iran is often political historiography and has mostly focused on the court of kings. It is rare to study the social history of a nation that has addressed the conditions of women in that society. In the few cases where references have been made to the women and inner circle of kings, this issue has been a function of the political historiography of men.
In a general classification, the sources of Iranian architecture can be divided into two categories: first: surviving buildings and works, second: literary, historical texts and travelogues. Therefore, by referring to library sources such as travelogues, historical texts written by historians, children of kings, foreign ambassadors, etc., the necessary information has been collected to achieve the research goal. Analyzing harems from this angle will be a new and necessary approach in examining the works of royal architecture.
