Abstract:Folk beliefs, as the science of early humans, are a type of mythology that contemporary domestic and international researchers refer to as "living myths." These beliefs point to an ancient people who pondered events, created stories for the unknowns in their minds regarding the nature of phenomena, performed rituals for them, believed in those stories themselves, and propagated them. The existence of folk beliefs in a region guides us toward the antiquity of a grand and ancient civilization. Apart from indicating the existence of civilization in a region, folk beliefs, as one of the fundamental genres of popular culture and folklore of nations, have gradually found acceptance in the collective mind of the masses. However they have reached us, folk beliefs represent the thought and science of our primitive ancestors, who were not indifferent to phenomena and analyzed problems and hardships with the knowledge of their time—which lacked a scientific aspect—and constructed stories for them that later became myths. Therefore, today we call any belief that cannot be scientifically aligned with modern knowledge a "living myth," because it narrates an ancient phenomenon.
